Legacy of Kain Wiki

Well, this has perhaps been the biggest week in Legacy of Kain history for a long time - and one that will live long in the memory. For the first time in over 20 years, a story based single player Legacy of Kain game has been officially announced with the revelations of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered at the Sony 'State of Play' show on September 24th. Truth be told, this is something that has been rumoured since the name tag unexpectedly appeared alongside some statues at San Diego comic-con in July, but like so many other rumours over the years it had appeared to be another false start as gaming shows came and went over the summer... Until PSN made a slip of their own and released the entire trailer before the show. What followed was hours of LoK fans in excited confusion as forums and social media populated and buzzed for the first time in years. Then finally the State of Play aired the trailer and confirmed that it was real. Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver and Soul Reaver 2 are being remastered with what appears to be the full Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered treatment. Since then more detail have emerged on blogs, giving us tantalising glimpses of what awaits us on the release day of 10th December: Improved graphics which can be toggled between old and new at the touch of a button, improved skyboxes, improved controls, map and compass navigation, photo mode, lighting and shadow improvements, interactive lore maps, photo mode and some legendary 'lost levels'. It looks like Christmas this year is going to be a very good one - and the fandom hasn't been this alive in a while.

But that's not the only reveal we've had recently. Dark Horse and IGN followed suit by officially revealing the statues that had first leaked the remaster and if that wasn't enough, the State of Play also revealed that Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain would be getting a PC Plus release. So, from nothing a few months ago the series can now count on a highly successful Kickstarter campaign for a prequel graphic novel Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver – The Dead Shall Rise and it's associated merchandise, an new port to the Evercade system for Blood Omen and Soul Reaver (due to be released at the end of September), a PS Plus port for Blood Omen and finally an all platform remaster. Add to that the recent cameos of Raziel and Kain in fan favourite and game of the year contender Astrobot and it's a very good time to be an LoK fan.
