- Indeed you are correct, this was created as something of a catch-all for the distinctive symbols used by the Ancient vampire culture and seen throughout their constructions. It indeed meant 'runes' in a generic sense of symbolic writing rather than a being true runes and I can see that this could be considered an inaccurate title. Though I do vaguely recall them being referred to as "runes" at one point in the official descriptions, I haven't as yet looked through in detail to find descriptions for the signs - which I suspect would be a bit vague and description based anyway. I'll have a look through and see what's there over the next couple of days and come back with some proposals. Until then, I'd ask we don't do any straight changes of the page title - partially because I'd like to see if there's anything there first, but mostly because it's much easier for me to send a bot through looking for all the connections and changing them to the new title if they're all in the same place. - Okay,I've managed to squeeze in some source checking tonight and I think there is actually a more appropriate title in the scripts. The stage descriptions and dialogue in the Soul Reaver 2 scripts mention "Arcane Symbols" both at the breaching of the Subterranean Pillars chamber and the Dark Forge. I think that may be the best we get for an official title. I'll revert changes and send the bot out tomorrow to redirect and swap references for the new title if there's no objections.
