Succubi also referred to as Succubus were an apparently deleted enemy class intended to have featured in Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain.

Profile[]

The class was not seen in the final game and the only trace of their existence comes from NPC dialogue scripts which have several lines attributed to the class - each spoken in a seductive manner, until a fine aggressive line presumably indicating an attack. Their lines are accompanied by the stage directions "Sensual/sexy female voices - husky with desire and lust. Each line should be spoken by a different voice". The following lines are attributed to the Succubi:

"Do I not please you, my lord? Come, taste of my flesh..."
―Succubus — Listen (file info)[src]
"I can sense your lust, warrior. Take of me what you will."
―Succubus — Listen (file info)[src]
"Such a beautiful body. Oh the pleasures the undead can bring..."
―Succubus — Listen (file info)[src]
The The final line is accompanied by the description "succubus, on being turned down by Kain":[1]
"You fool. Hell hath no fury..."
―Succubus — Listen (file info)[src]

The nature of the lines and naming of the character(s) suggest that this was intended to be an allusion to the succubus of folklore - a female demon who often seeks to seduce men through sexual activity.

The lines are not spoken in game , although they are present in files, presumably meaning that the class was deleted before recording took place and it may be that the the idea was discarded before it was fully realised.

Some relics of the succubi class remain in the game however, with the Vorador's Brides having similar lines and retaining their overt lust, although greatly toned down compared to the succubi. Another class is referred to as "succubus" in some internal classifications, however this class appears in games as the 'mutated slug' mutants and it is difficult to reconcile this appearance with lusty feminine appearance suggested by the lines, unless this visage represents an alternative appearance seen when the class attacks.
