The Stun Dungeon was a 'dungeon' area which housed the Stun Spell. Positioned within a cave nearby the Oracle's Cave in northern Nosgoth, the cave was entered by Kain in Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain in the chapter "Find the Oracle".

Profile[]

The Stun Dungeon first appeared in Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain in the chapter "Find the Oracle" as Kain traveled to the north of Nosgoth in search of 'The Oracle of Nosgoth'.[Blood Omen][Blood Omen/5]

Shortly after his defeat to Malek in Malek's Bastion Kain was directed by Ariel to seek out 'The Oracle of Nosgoth', Travelling via Bat Form to a beacon beyond the bastion, Kain could continue north to a network of caves and caverns in the cliffs where the Oracle's Cave was located. Before he entered the cave, however, Kain could find another more isolated cave containing the Stun Dungeon.[Blood Omen][Blood Omen/5]

Within Kain discovered the Stun spell and was able to test its usage in combat. Returning outside, Kain was able to continue his journey onward to the Oracle's Cave.[Blood Omen][Blood Omen/5]

Design and Layout[]

Externally the Stun Dungeon resembled an ordinary cave in snowy terrain at the foot of the cliffs surrounding the Oracle's Cave. Access to the cave itself was blocked from the southern trail by a small flooded area, although several ice islands could be used to jump without damage using Wolf Form - or even Mist Form if backtracking. Within the cave the environment generally consisted of that of a set of natural caverns, with rocky brown walls and brown, grey and green rocky floors.[Blood Omen][Blood Omen/5]

The dungeon was divided into seven discrete map areas:

  • The next chamber consisted of a wide passage heading north before sharply turning east and narrowing, creating an 'r' shape. A short way along the initial wide passage the path bottle-necked between two rocks before widening out to where two Dandy throwers and a Scimitar swordsman awaited. The exit was positioned at the end of the eastern passage on the top wall.[Blood Omen][Blood Omen/5][Blood Omen strategy guide]
  • The next area was similar to the fourth, with a wide passage heading north to a rune triangle and a locked door, all surrounded by a narrow rocky ledge. This time the ledge widened to a balcony on both sides, each of which had two Knife throwers. Again it was necessary for Kain to use stun or other projectiles to eliminate the enemies and unlock the exit door at the top of the room.[Blood Omen][Blood Omen/5][Blood Omen strategy guide]
  • The last chamber was a wide passage that began heading north, turned sharply and headed east before turning again and heading south in a long 'n' shape. A short distance into the initial northern stretch the path bottle-necked between two rocks to where a purple magic sphere was positioned and immediately widened to an area in the corner where two dandy throwers and two scimitar swordsmen protected a blood vial. As Kain headed down the southern stretch the path would narrow and bottleneck between two rocks again, presenting a purple magic sphere and immediately widening to where two scimitar swordsmen awaited. At the bottom of the southern path was positioned a teleporter pad which returned Kain to the initial chamber of the dungeon.[Blood Omen][Blood Omen/5][Blood Omen strategy guide]
