The Illusion ability is noticeably reminiscent of abilities used previously by Guardians of the Mind. In his boss encounter in Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, Nupraptor summoned several illusionary hazards, hinted to be caused by Nupraptor's mental powers. An almost identical illusionary skill is seen in Legacy of Kain: Defiance when Raziel is confronted by the original mind guardian, who possessed the ability to vanish and reappear with multiple copies of himself, each of whom have lesser health - there it is labelled as Mental Simulacrum.
