Eidos Interactive were a British video game publisher, largely responsible for the publishing of Crystal Dynamics developed Legacy of Kain games.

Profile[]

Eidos acquired Crystal Dynamics in 1998 and took over publishing duties of the Legacy of Kain series in 1999 from Crystal Dynamics, following the legal dispute between Silicon Knights and Crystal Dynamics regarding the rights of the franchise and the latter's move into video game development. The company would go on to publish the remaining four Legacy of Kain games (Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver-Legacy of Kain: Defiance, 1999-2004).

Following the release of Legacy of Kain: Defiance, Eidos Interactive and its parent company Eidos plc, would be taken-over by SCi Entertainment in 2004 and again by Square Enix in 2009, who ultimately re-organised Eidos along with their existing European-based assets, creating new subsidiary Square Enix Europe. As of 2011, Square Enix are in the process of retiring the Eidos brand, with only existing developers already bearing the title (such as Eidos Montreal and Eidos Shanghai) continuing to use the name. Future Installments in the series are likely to be published under the Square-Enix Europe publishing brand.
